In Mr. Newmyer’s words this was the best Colorado Science and Engineering Fair yet for Center High School. It was great to see these students take control of their academic futures as juniors. Winning one award at state is a great achievement, it is amazing for a student to win 5 awards at the State Science Fair and two of our students did it! Awards of note - Only one Women in STEM award was given and that went to Alanna, only four Colorado School of Mines Scholarships were given and 2 went to Center High School. Congratulate these students they deserve it! And a special thanks to Diego Martinez for taking care of transportation, setup, and last minute preparation.

Wow these are some great accomplishments for these students!! Congratulations. Your hard work and determination has truly “paid” off for you!!
Mr. Poole deserves some recognition this week as well. He was recently accepted to the War Washington Teacher Fellows program, hosted by the learning consortium of Ford’s Theatre, the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, President Lincoln's Cottage, and Tudor Place Historic House & Garden. This is a great opportunity for Mr. Poole and Center High School is proud to help sponsor him in this endeavor.
Another group of Center High School students were making a name for themselves last week during the Valley Wide Solo Ensemble competition. High school student Christian Espinosa played his trumpet very well on a jazz solo and received an unofficial I-Superior from the flute judge! High school students Ben Torres, Jonathan Torres, Billy Giron, Carlos Ramos, and Manual Moreno made up a percussion ensemble of bass drum, snare, timpani, crash cymbals and triangle and scored not only a I-Superior for their performance but also received the High School Percussion Ensemble Honor Award. Congratulations to Mrs. Newmyer and her students.
This past week-
Monday was a typical beginning of the week: reviewing lesson plans and setting up a schedule for NWEA testing. The day ended with a few meetings. Tuesday I attended a staffing meeting, conducted walk throughs, and prepared for the Freshmen/Sophomore track meet. Wednesday I attend court in the afternoon, worked on payroll, and responded to e-mails. Thursday was round 2 of NWEA testing, I met with PEBC regarding principal improvement issues, and Mrs. Zimmerman and I met to compile the list of students who will be attending the Colorado Rockies/9 News field trip. Friday I conducted walk throughs in the morning. Mrs. Zimmerman conducted 5 interviews for open positions for the 2013-2014 school year. Sunday I attended the Varsity baseball games.
The week ahead-
Monday will be devoted to lesson review, walk throughs, and Focal Point will be on campus for my end of the year evaluation. Tuesday all juniors will be taking ACT. That afternoon the entire student body and staff will be touring ASU. Tuesday will end with soccer and baseball games being held on ASU’s campus. Wednesday is our annual field trip to the 9 News/Colorado Rockies. After the Rockies game I will be heading to Parachute to meet with their high school principal to get ideas and strategies to improve on our walk through process. Friday is open for walk throughs and responding to e-mails. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I will be attending the CADA conference in Broomfield.
Remember Saturday is also Prom 2013!!
Have a fantastic week!
