Congratulations are in order for one of our Center High School teachers. Every year each school from the San Luis Valley nominates a teacher in their own district to for SLV Teacher of the Year. This year Center School District has nominated Daniel Newmyer to represent our district. This should really come as no surprise to everyone; I think I could acknowledge Daniel on a weekly for sure monthly basis on his accomplishments. He is an outstanding educator who is very dedicated to our students and district. Congratulations Daniel, thank you for all your hard work and commitment to Center High School.
Maya Martinez #20 and Alexa Lobato #4
With the ending of the high school basketball season complete this weekend, it is a great time recognize our all conference selections for the 2012-2013 basketball season. The Lady Vikings had 10 wins on the year and were well represented by the following athletes: Maya Martinez (Second Team All-League) and Alexa Lobato (Honorable Mention All-League). The boys improved throughout the season and they were represented by Ivan Escalon (Honorable Mention All League).
Remember TCAP this week. ALL the students have been well prepared for this assessment; I know this because I have witnessed great instruction and teaching happening since August. Put on your thinking caps and let’s show what we know!!
This past week-
Monday I went to Denver to CHSAA to seed the 2A State Basketball tournament. Tuesday I attended a few RTI meetings, attended a Senior Class meeting, completed a survey for SB 191, paid a visit to the Villagomez Family, and attended the presentation from CDE for Center School of Excellence Award. Tuesday evening ended with the monthly DAC and BOE meeting. Wednesday morning began early with a BLT meeting. I had a parent meeting, wrote a letter of recommendation and planned with Mrs. Zimmerman the TCAP assembly. Thursday I attended a few RTI meetings, addressed a teacher concern, conducted a few walk throughs, and went to Walmart to purchase items for TCAP. Friday I had a few discipline issues to deal with, conducted a few walk throughs, and began preparations for next weekend’s track meet. Saturday I attended Alea Villagomez’s funeral.
