Evaluation process with focal point
EVERYONE must be committed to the pursuit of excellence.
It was my turn this week to undergo the evaluation process through the Focal Point team. Just like the classroom teacher this can be a very stressful and time consuming process. Although this is the work that is needed in our district, it was a difficult process getting all the needed documents, data, and evidence ready for my evaluation. There was easily over 80 pieces of paper that were reviewed for this evaluation. The gathering and organizing of all the data took many hours of work, but it is just proof that we are all committed to the pursuit of excellence for our district. Getting ready for the evaluation process may have been time consuming, but the actual evaluation was nerve racking and stressful. During the evaluation there were three Focal Point members, two administrators from Monte Vista, and two other administrators from Center. This was a good two hour grill session to ensure that I am doing the proper administration duties of our district per the Building Leadership Team. It only took five minutes into the meeting, before I realized that we (all the staff) are incorporating the best strategies for our students. This alleviated much of the pressure and stress from the evaluation process. We are all committed to the pursuit of excellence in our school. EVERYONE is accountable at Center High School to improve academic achievement. The final report from Focal Point is that our school appears to be right on track with our core values, academic achievement, and overall improvement plan. Whew glad that one is over though!!
Space Symposium Our core belief to prepare our students to be successful in life.
Many students (38 high school and middle school students) had the opportunity this past week to experience the National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. Students got the opportunities to mingle with real astronauts and experience the careers related to space science. I would like to thank Daniel Newmeyer, Kate Newmeyer, Diego Martinez, Gail Martinez, and Russ Braiden for their extra efforts to make this possible for our students. This is one way to help prepare our students to be successful in life.
