EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day.
With the end of the fall sports season quickly approaching, I want to thank all of the staff members that help each event run as smoothly as it does. I was told long ago, to surround yourself with good hard working people and that will make your job easier. First, John Norriega does many tremendous things for our home events. He makes our home fans yell and scream as he is the best announcer in the SLV. John helps with score clock and administrator in charge. Soyla Guadiana and Cliff Dabney both have had a busy couple of weeks as well. They sit for hours at our home triangular volleyball games keeping books and running the clock. Soyla’s mother Perfecta Guadiana is the
person who greets us at most of the home events. No matter the weather, she is out there taking the money for gate. I want to thank Rene Olmos and Carla Smith for filling in this year for taking gate. Joe Martinez, Mark Jones, Phillip Martinez, Tom Garcia and Dennis Perrin have been helping with clock and running the chains for football. I have to thank Susan Banning for all her hard work aligning concessions sponsors and sales together. Nobody understands how hard she works at this! This last week she got stuck in concessions all day. She did this because she has a heart of gold and never walks away from giving our students opportunities. Thank you Susan! Finally, I want to thank the administrators that have been traveling all over the state to help me cover events. Russ Braiden, Linda Donaldson, Teddy Garcia, Deb Lujan and Carrie Zimmerman have been helping me cover events at home and away to ensure we have safety at every game. Thanks to all of you for helping this fall.
This week Susan Banning nominated Miguel M. Baltazar for a good conduct award. This award is special for both of us! Miguel came into our district from Arizona. Our schools expectations for behavior ultimately caught up to Miguel. Last year, he made some poor choices and had to face some tough consequences for those choices. This year Miguel has chosen to change his behavior. Miguel has kept himself out of Jaime’s and my office by making great choices. This award was well deserved! Good job Miguel, and thank you Susan for recognizing Miguel for his behavior.
