I hope that all of our students and staff had a restful and relaxing spring break. I hope the week long break energized everyone to come back and finish the year strong. Our core values state that EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day. That means teachers/paraprofessionals/support staff must continue to grind towards new goals. Now that TCAP testing is over, we must continue to quality plan and instruct to achieve higher achievement. Our senior class is getting closer to graduation and we have to continue to educate them until their last day. Our junior class is a couple weeks away from taking the ACT test for their future. Our freshman and sophomore classes will need to continue to learn as we prepare them for the future, as now is when they prepare for the new goals. We have the best school and the best staff to take ALL our students to the next level. Let’s continue to push these students on a daily basis! A strong finish before our summer break!
Congratulations to Nick Lobato and his family for being selected as a Daniel’s Fund Scholarship. I personally have known Nick for 13 years. He deserves to be recognized as a Daniel’s Scholarship, because of his hard work in the classroom. Nick had persevered through many obstacles in his life. I know that we did some mock interviews with Nick prior to his interview and he continued to practice at home for improvement. Obviously Nick did an outstanding job in his interview, as he was awarded the scholarship last week. Nick is a great young man that will represent Center High School and the Lobato family for years!
The week before spring break-
Monday-we started with a school pep rally for ACT/TCAP. Then we started our TCAP testing with our first session. Juniors and seniors visited the campus of Western State for a college visit.
Tuesday- we had day 2 of testing. Juniors went to Adams State. I supervised baseball that evening in Alamosa.
Wednesday-we had our final day of testing.
Thursday-We had our make-up tests. I would like to thank all of those that continued to prompt for the students that missed during the week. The 11th and 12th grades finished their ACT preparations and off campus visits.
Friday-We had a couple more make-up tests. We did not have school and I helped run a track meet at the community park.
The week ahead-
As I stated above- It is time to get back to the basics as I will be looking at lesson plans on Monday. I am going to visit many classrooms during the week. I have a couple of RTI/IEP meetings mixed in throughout the week. Tuesday we will be helping the town clean-up as Arabia has scheduled Mayor’s Day. Wednesday-I have my monthly AD meeting in Alamosa. Thursday-our BLT will have an off campus meeting to prepare for next year.
Have a great week, as we finish the home stretch!
