With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels and be successful in life!
On Friday, 47 high school students competed in the SLV Regional Science Fair. These students conducted original scientific research, wrote a report, constructed a display, and presented their work to a variety of judges for 6 hours. Our students did very well with many of them winning awards; we will be providing a detailed list of winners later this week. The big winners were Camille Ruggles, Jordan Lobato, Nick Lobato, Airik Garcia who all won more than one special award. Daisy Garcia and Alanna Chacon will be representing the SLV and Center High School at the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair in April. Daisy Garcia directly qualified for the International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, and Environment) Project Olympiad while many others will be submitting for at-large qualification this week. The big news is that Center High School has been named the SLV Regional Science Fair Small School of the Year for the 5th year in a row. This happens because of the hard work of our students and the amazing support of many staff members and parents. Special thanks goes to all those who reviewed papers, to the custodial staff for cleaning up a little extra during board construction, to the kitchen staff for making so many sack lunches, to all the teachers for preparing our students to present, to Dennis Schoenfelder for helping our students create wonderful displays. The administration for making sure we had the supplies to do these projects, to the transportation department for making sure we got where we needed to be safely, and to Quinn Harmon, Diego Martinez, Daniel Newmyer, and Mimi Dolan for spending many, many hours after school helping students prepare for the fair. Great job 2014 SLV Regional Science Fair Regional Champs.

Student Leadership in Center High School
A big thank you to Kindra Rounds, Diane Parker and our 2014 Key Club members Rebecca Paez, Carmen Ruggles, Daisy Garcia, Cynthia Aguilar and Mayra Molina for their offering to have a spring rally on Saturday March 8th. Many schools were invited for the rally that was held at Center High School. The meeting was led by our own lieutenant governor Aidee Valles. This is a huge leadership opportunity for our students. Congratulations to Genesis Villa for running for lieutenant Governor, as she will be representing the area next year.

Finally, I want to congratulate the 2014 Center Viking Men Basketball Team for their outstanding season. The Vikings concluded their season on Saturday as they fell to Simla in the regional final. These men had one of the most successful seasons in recent memory. The most impressive part of the 2013-14 season, was their ability to persevere and play hard to the very end. On Friday night, in the first round of regionals the Vikings won on a last second put back by Jonathon Moreno. It was an incredible display of fighting until the final buzzer sounded. Although they were one win away from the state tournament, it was fun riding the wave of the Vikings throughout the year! The 2014 Basketball Team had a great following all year long.
