First, I would like to brag on some excellent instruction that I happened to catch this last week in Jump Start. One of the classes that I observed or conducted a walk through in was Susan Banning and Dennis Schoenfelder teaching science. During this time I witnessed both of them giving direct instruction and using various Kagan
strategies to make sure that content was delivered. They used my personal favorite “quiz quiz trade” to help them deliver their objective with repetition and full engagement.

Next, I would like to brag on Lee Flood and Lloyd Garcia as they were delivering math content to some of our students. They both identified that some of their students were on different levels regarding 2-3 digit division. Consequently, what they did was a benefit to all students. They divided the class in groups of two and directed their instruction on the needs of each individual. Both were giving direct instruction, using Kagan strategies for delivering content and Lee and Lloyd were teaching some basic skills that our Jump Start students desperately need.
Susan, Dennis, Lee and Lloyd prove that with our support ALL children can achieve at high levels and be successful in life.
I would personally like to recognize Carrie Zimmerman, Marsha Felmlee, Deb Lujan, Soyla Guadiana, Julio Paez, Teddy Garcia, Ascencion Najera and Cruzita DeHerrera for all their hard work with registering many of our students before the first day of school. They all prove that EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day. Carrie and Marsha did an excellent job of organizing this event. The purpose of this early registration was to ensure that important instructional time wasn’t lost the first day of school. Everyone else listed above volunteered to stay until 6:00 on Friday evening to help get students their proper paperwork completed, lap tops checked
out and checking on student’s physicals.
