Happy Mother’s Day
I would like to wish all of the mothers out there a wonderful Mother’s Day. I personally know that without my mom, I would not be the person I am today. When I was younger, I admit that I was a little ornery, stubborn and did some things that I shall not discuss. But, my mother was constantly checking on my grades, attendance, behavior…and if I was actually in class. I am thankful for all the extra work she had to put towards teaching me the lessons of right and wrong. Without her constant guidance and her holding me accountable, I would not be the person I am today. Thank you MOM! I love ya!

A big congratulation to Kindra Rounds for the excellent play that her classes performed this past week. Although, I was not able to see the play first hand…I was told the students did a fantastic job of creating the play themselves with their own directors! Thanks for allowing your students to take on a different challenge Mrs. Rounds.
A huge thank you goes out to Matt Platt for his work on the parent appreciate night. Matt was part of a plan of creating more parent and school engagement. He created a plan for our parents. The plan was discussed by our parent committee. We decided to create a plan to honor parents and get some more feedback about how we can continue to communicate with them throughout the year. Although the turnout was small in numbers, we felt the night was successful. I appreciate all the parents that attended with their students. A huge thanks goes out to Katrina Ruggles and Carolyn Ruybal for setting up the food. Thanks to Dennis Schoenfelder, Lauren McEvoy, Adele Alfson, Kindra Rounds, Brandon Selby, Kate Newmyer, Becky Reed, George Welsh and Carrie Zimmerman for their presentations of student work and attendance is greatly appreciated. Next year, we hope we will continue to find unique ways to engage with our parents.
The past week-
Monday I prepared for our SPL track meet and baseball tournament. I attended an RTI/expulsion meeting. The afternoon was spent with other district administration in regards to next year’s budget. Tuesday, I was able to conduct some walk throughs. I also attending some meetings regarding summer break school, discipline, attendance, and SPARK curriculum (with Ben Kern). Wednesday I was able to conduct some more walk throughs, answer e-mails, and prepare for the Teacher Appreciation Lunch. Thursday, I meet with ASU maintenance crew to rope off the field for the upcoming Saturday baseball games. I also attended multiple meetings with Jess Downey, NWEA summer school, and Viking Athletic Association Scholarship. I was fortunate enough to tour the district that afternoon with Joe Garcia, Lieutenant Governor for Colorado. That evening I attended our 1st annual Parent Appreciation/Alternative Band Concert Night. Friday was a day off for students, but a big majority of the staff helped with the SPL track meet that day. Saturday, we hosted the SPL baseball tournament at ASU.
The week ahead-
Monday-Wednesday , I will be finishing up my walk throughs for the year. High School Awards night will be Monday evening starting at 6:00 pm. There will also be more awards during the day on Monday as well. I will also be given my evaluation on Monday. Tuesday is open for review of data and meetings (DAC/BOE). Wednesday, I plan to prepare for upcoming hires in the district. That evening we have our middle/high band concert in the main gym. I plan on heading to Denver on Wednesday night. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I will in Denver/Pueblo for State Track and Regional Baseball.
Have a great week.
