This week I would l like to highlight another new staff member at Center High School. We have brought back into the classroom Mr. Stefan Welsh (in a new capacity). Mr. Welsh came on board after Jump Start, when the position became available again after a late resignation. He has jumped right into the classroom and accepted the challenge of renovating the foreign language curriculum. After reviewing lesson plans and observing his instruction, it is evident that Mr. Welsh is capable of becoming an outstanding teacher and a big asset to our district. Mr. Welsh is currently teaching World History, Foreign Language, and Technology. Welcome aboard Mr. Welsh, we are glad to have you as part of our team!!
Walter Martinez going above and beyond the regular school day duties.
There are so many people that work behind the scenes at Center High School. I am sure that most people aren't aware of the time and efforts that go into all the events that happen at Center High School on a weekly basis. I would like to thank the custodian crew at Center High School. They are on call during the weekend and they are more than willing to get things set up and torn down every weekend. We all appreciate the time and efforts you put into making our school function so well.
This Past Week-
Monday I spent the day going over lesson plans, attended an RTI meeting, prepared for the upcoming extra-curricular events, and conducted a few walk throughs. Tuesday I was able to get into some classrooms with Mrs. Zimmerman. I also collaborated with administration from Pagosa Springs about an upcoming school visit. I created PLC agendas for Wednesday's PLC. I also attended soccer's big win over Bayfield. Wednesday morning I met with Mr. Welsh to discuss the administration PLC agenda. I also checked on ICAP with the staff and students. I attended the Valley Wide Administration PLC at ASU. Thursday morning began with an early meeting with Anthony Lobato. I was also able to get into many classrooms for observation and walk throughs. I attended a lunch meeting with freshman class sponsors. Friday was a typical business day, answering e-mails and walk throughs. I traveled that afternoon to Custer County for volleyball. Saturday I attended both soccer and volleyball at Center High School.
The Week Ahead-
Monday I plan on reviewing lesson plans and conducting walk throughs. I also plan to monitor cafeteria duty. Tuesday I plan on conducting many walk-throughs in between the numerous IEP meetings that are scheduled this day. I will also be covering soccer Tuesday evening. Wednesday I will be in Pagosa Springs to observe their implementation of the math curriculum they are utilizing from the Legacy Foundation. I will also be going with their administration on walk throughs. Thursday and Friday will be catching up with regular school business (e-mails and walk throughs). I have interviews on Friday for Spud Bowl Candidates. Friday evening I will be attending Volleyball vs. SDC and the big opening league football contest with Centauri. Go Vikings!
