Sometimes it takes looking outside of the box (Center High School) to realize just how fortunate I am to have such an outstanding staff here at Center High School. I spent a day last week at another school, conducting walk throughs with their administration. I observed one of their high performing math teachers (who showed some of the best growth in 10th grade math TCAP in the state). I left that walk through feeling very confident in our instruction and staff at Center High School. I have conducted a little over 30 walk-throughs thus far this quarter and I would put any of my teaching staff up against any other staff in the state of Colorado. We are doing great things and working hard towards student achievement. We need to continue our path and we will continue to see great growth. A great big shout goes out to the following teachers: Mimi Dolan(Science), Annie Rice (tighten and toning), Kate Newmyer (band), Quinn Harmon (Science), Lee Flood (health, BFS and math), Mark Jones (construction, math and mechanics), Daniel Newmyer (science and math), Lauren McEvoy (art, photography and foreign language), Diego Martinez (math), Diane Parker (language arts), Kindra Rounds (language arts), Scott Poole (history), Dennis Schoenfelder (graphics and video production), Katrina Ruggles (senior seminar), Nate Koerber (ESL), Brandon Selby (culinary arts and history), Julie Weatherford (special education), and Stefan Welsh (video and history). Thanks for your hard work and dedication to our students. Our purpose is to increase academic achievement for ALL students.
I have really had to bite my tongue the last four weeks. I have so wanted to brag on our football team, but I didn't want to jinx them. The Center High School Football Team has really played and looked great thus far this season. They had a tough battle and opponent this past Friday, but don’t let that get you down boys. You are a great football team with a lot more season left. I can see great success in your future. Let’s start with a bounce back this next weekend in Dolores. There is a lot more football left boys!!
Congratulations to Ben and Jonathon Torres. They were the first recipients of our staff recognizing great behavior. Both students were nominated by Mr. Diego Martinez for their willingness to help our new students adapt. Congratulations!
