EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day.
I would like to recognize the following Center School District employees that went out of their way to improve their knowledge in CPR and First Aid. They attended a class on their own time, just in case we would ever need a certified person to save a life. Thanks to Alice Burch for setting this class up. Thanks to Adele Alfson, John Alfson, Dennis Burch, Scott Poole, Nicole Rockey, Ramona Vargas, Marissa Aguilar, Lloyd Garica, L J Garcia, Dianna Valenzuela, Veronica Tomas, Veronica Gardea, Cecilia Sanchez, Ross Martin, Andy Hawkins, Lloyd Garcia, Lee Flood, Jan Vigil, Mark Jones, Kevin Jones, Jaton Pearson, Honey Stecken, Brian Ullery, and Carlos Valencia for attending this class.

Congratulations to Center High School senior Alanna Chacon as she was recently chosen as Adams State University Spud Bowl Queen. Alanna was chosen first out of 14 San Luis Valley participants. Alanna will receive tuition, room and board for a full year at Adams State University. Alanna is a great representative of our school and community. Congratulations Alanna you deserve this scholarship.

Last week I tried to recognize everyone that helped run a great district volleyball tournament. But I want to recognize a special person that goes above and beyond her regular class duties. She helps every class sponsor, team and our entire school by working her tail off for fundraising. Susan Banning is often relied on when we host various events. She always is the first one to step up, order and collect what is needed for concessions. She is on her feet for 10-15 hours helping wherever needed. I do not know a more dedicated person who helps anyone in need. You can always count on Susan for anything asked of her. She helps me out in emergencies. It never fails, every time I send her to Bayfield it either rains or snows on her. I want to personally thank Susan for her outstanding dedication to our school, sports and community. She is a great person and we would be lost without her.
This past week-
Monday morning I did a quick check on lesson plans before heading to Pagosa Springs for an All Conference Football meeting with Mr. Flood. In the afternoon I met to review the tutoring program. Tuesday I attended the first aide training from 5:00-8:00. Tuesday morning students took the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey in their classrooms. I attended a parks & recreation meeting in the morning. I was able to conduct some walk-throughs on Tuesday and Wednesday. I attended the ICAP training with Mrs. Ruggles. Thursday morning was ICAP/PLC day, as we had the opportunity to honor our 2013 school board and Superintendent. Friday I attended our Valley Wide PLC day in Del Norte as we reviewed data and developed quarterly assessments. Saturday evening I attended the high school dance from 7:00-11:00.
The week ahead-
Monday-I will review lesson plans and give out good conduct awards. I plan on attending court and I will meet with the rest of our substitutes about our classroom procedures.
Tuesday-We have an early morning staff meeting at 7:15 in the community room. I plan on conducting walk throughs. I plan on dropping by the community library to listen to Scott Tipton present to our history classes. I have some instructional walks planned in the afternoon.
Wednesday-I have my monthly AD meeting in Alamosa. I plan on getting into classrooms in the afternoon. We have our first parent teacher’s conference that afternoon, starting at 3:30.
Thursday-I plan on conducting regular principal duties. This will be our second day of parent teacher conferences.
Friday-teachers and staff do not have school because of parent teacher conference.
Have a wonderful week.
