With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels and be successful in life
On November 17th the Viking Athletic Association met with 31 members present and chose Jimmy Bevan to be inducted into the Viking Athletic Hall of Fame. Jim’s name was recommended by many members of the association. He was fondly remembered by many longtime residence of the Center area. When contacting Jim to request his honor at the induction, he was extremely pleased and appreciative. This type of genuine characteristic makes my job worthwhile. He was not only a great athlete here at Center High School, but he was a great citizen to the community as well. It will be my pleasure to induct him into the Center Viking Athletic Hall of Fame on December 15th at the home basketball game versus La Veta. I invite and encourage all of you to attend this event and honor Mr. Bevan and all his accomplishments.

This past week:
The majority of the week was spent on discipline matters that involved our students. I did manage to get into a few classrooms to conduct walk throughs. I attended a technology meeting with Mr. Schoenfelder and Mrs. Cooper that entailed the past and future of video production and graphic classes. Wednesday Ms. Banning, Mr. Garcia, Ms. McEvoy, and Mr. Allsup met regarding foreign language classes. Thursday I had a chance to present to the Colorado Rural Council on Senate Bill 191 at the CASB conference in Colorado Springs with Mrs. Donaldson, Mr. Welsh and Mr. Lobato.
The week ahead:
Monday- I have 3 RTI meetings. The remainder of the day will be reviewing lesson plans and conducting walk throughs.
Tuesday- I will be in Denver for a 9 am meeting to represent our league at CHSAA football meeting. Don’t forget that NWEA testing (reading & science) will take place all morning.
Wednesday- NWEA testing (math & language arts) will continue. I will be attending the monthly athletic directors meeting in Alamosa. In the afternoon I will be back on campus to conduct walk throughs.
Thursday- I will conduct walk throughs and I have one meeting scheduled for the afternoon.
Friday- ASVAB testing will be conducted in the morning. I plan to catch up on e-mails, paper work, and more walk throughs. This evening will be the first official basketball game in our new gym.
Saturday- Viking Athletic Association Basketball Tournament (fundraiser) all day!!
Have a great week!
