With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels and be successful in
life
Quality planning, instruction, and assessments lead to high
achievement for ALL students
As you all know Focal Point staff was in the building Thursday. We visited random classrooms on this day. I am always so proud and impressed with the great instruction and learning that is going on in our building. There were two people in particular that I would like to “brag” on for a little bit, Mr. Scott Poole and Mr. Mark Jones. I tend to focus on athletics with these two individuals, but they have added so much to our classrooms as well. Mr. Poole has taken the professional development that the district has provided and he has really “run” with it. He implements so many great strategies that increase student engagement. His commitment to his students is showing in his daily teaching. Thanks Mr. Poole! Mr. Jones has been taken out his comfort zone by teaching a math class the last two years. He has not only accepted this challenge, but he is excelling at it. After analyzing the data from last year’s TCAP assessments, it is evident that Mr. Jones had an essential role in Center Schools Accreditation Award.
Friday and Saturday of this week Center Schools hosted the RTT (Race to The Top) Valley Collaborative meeting. This meeting includes teachers and administration from all over the valley to collaborate together on educational issues. The Center Athletic Association found this as a great opportunity to make a little money for our athletes. The association decided to hold a concession stand for all the participants. This was all pretty much thrown together at the last minute, but that didn’t stop several staff members from jumping in and helping out. Our district has some of the most committed, unselfish, and dedicated employees. Many coaches and staff members spent many hours helping to organize and run the concession stand for these two days. Brandon Selby and his class cooked their butts off, Cruzita DeHerrera, Deb Lujan, and her mother Millie made breakfast burritos, Annie Rice and Carrie Zimmerman immediately jumped into to help run things for those two days, Susan Banning as always was more than willing to assume her role as the “Concession Stand Queen”, and there were many servers (Lee Flood, Lloyd Garcia, Nate, LJ Garcia, Etian, Matt Platte, Cynthia Gallager, Katrina Ruggles, Scoot Poole) who just jumped in and helped make this a success. This has been a great success. Thanks to all of you for your help and commitment! You are all appreciated because you all our school and students!
EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day.
This past week-
Monday-The majority of the day was spent on getting back to business and teacher evaluations.
Tuesday-There were more teacher evaluations conducted and the RTI process was started for many seniors who are off track to graduate in the spring. The day ended with a DAC and School Board meeting.
Wednesday-The day started with a teacher evaluation. I attended the SPL administration meeting in the morning. Wednesday afternoon was more RTI meetings to help get seniors back on track.
Thursday-I arrived early to the school to prepare for my own evaluation with Focal Point. I had a few RTI meetings as well this morning.
The afternoon was spent on my evaluation with Focal Point, Mr. Welsh, and a few school board members.
Friday-Center hosted the RTT valley collaborative meeting where I had two roles to fill as both principal (participating in the meeting) and athletic director (running the concession stand).
Saturday-the Denver Broncos disappointed all of us in losing their first round divisional game. But as true fans…we can only hope for a Super Bowl next year.
The week ahead-
Monday-I begin the week with various meetings. I will also be working with Mrs. Zimmerman on background checks on applicants for the position of Behavioral Specialist.
Tuesday-I have a few meeting scheduled and I anticipate getting into some classrooms.
Wednesday-The day begins with an early morning BLT meeting. There will be a junior class meeting at lunch. The afternoon will be dedicated to post teacher evaluation meetings.
Thursday-The day will be spent conducting post teacher evaluation meetings.
Friday-There will be more post evaluation meetings and interviews will be conducted for the position of Behavioral Specialist.
Have a great week everybody!
Thank you all for all you do!
