With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels
Sid Ham
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sid Ham for his service here in the Center School District. Sid has been diagnosed with some health problems that were affecting his every day duties. It was in his best interest to take a leave of absence, because it was affecting his ability to teach. I appreciate Sid’s willingness and ability to connect with our ESL students. He is a very smart and caring man that will be missed. Core belief number 2, directly relates to Sid Ham. With Sid’s support ALL children can achieve at high levels! All of us at Center Schools wish Sid the very best and a speedy recovery!
We are preparing ALL our students to be successful in life
EVERYONE must be committed to the pursuit of excellence!
Kate Newmyer and Adele Alfson
Next, I would like to congratulate Kate Newmyer and her band for a very successful day at the “Big Group Contest” held in Alamosa. I had the privilege to watch the MS/HS band perform. They did an awesome job. The students are judged by a 3 judge panel. The students received an excellent rating for their performance. I guess comparing apples to apples….and watching 3 years ago…there is no doubt that Kate has improved this program to a respectful level. Great job Kate and the MS/HS band…you sounded great and we heard a ton of compliments. Kate is preparing our students to be successful in life and she is committed to the pursuit of excellence.
Finally, I want to thank Adele Alfson our high school counselor for getting our current 8th grade students/parents together to prepare for next year. Adele does an outstanding job with creating books/pamphlets that describe all the courses that will be offered in high school next year. She creates an atmosphere of planning for the future. Adele demonstrates and proves that it is not too early to start preparing for college. On Wednesday evening Adele went over those classes, expectations, graduation requirements, diplomas and expectations with most of our 8th grade parents and guardians. I was there to open up the meeting and Adele deserves recognition for preparing our students to be successful in life!
This past week:

Sunday I will help seed the 1A/2A state basketball tournaments in Denver.
The week ahead looks like this:

Tuesday-a staffing out meeting for a student, walk-throughs and I will attend the SLV Superintendent meeting in Alamosa to hear about e-net Colorado.
Wednesday-monthly SPL meeting, along with an RTI meeting and speak to the senior class.
Thursday-is pretty wide open, but I plan to finish my quarterly walk-throughs.
Friday-double check on all quarterly walk-throughs and science fair at ASC. Awards start at 7:00.
Reminder to all staff members: I have yet to receive a “good conduct” award. It is very important that we recognize those students that are going above and beyond everyday expectations!
