I want to thank two men who came into Mr. Poole's class last week to share their experiences of the Vietnam and Afghanistan War. Our first guest was a current school board member Mr. James Sanchez who came into our school to talk about Veteran's Day. Mr. .Sanchez was able to come into Mr. Poole's history classes and talk about his experiences in the Vietnam War. Mr. Sanchez shared a video from 9 News that was aired a couple years ago. Mr. Sanchez was able to share pictures and speak about the draft. He shared how the Vietnam War made him the man he is today. When Mr. Sanchez was finished the class welcomed Mr. Tito Chavez. Mr. Chavez came in and talked about his experience in Afghanistan and how he was in the military almost two decades. Mr. Chavez is currently an employee here in Center and he was able to share his insight about what the military was about and how it taught him life experiences. I would really like to thank both of these gentlemen for donating their time and allowing our students to listen to their message about the military and their war experiences. Thank you both for sharing this with Mr. Poole's history students as we honor both of you for our freedom and you give us the true meaning of what a Veterans Day means.
Congratulations to Edgar Gonzalez as he received a good conduct award from Mrs. Phillips. Edgar is a true gentleman when it comes to conduct and manners. He is really working hard to obtain a college scholarship next year. He is currently taking a college class and has been really responsible for obtaining work, purchasing books and trying his best to finish the class. Congratulations Edgar and keep up the great work.
This past week-
Monday-I traveled to Sanford to meet a bunch of principal’s as we conducted walk throughs in Sanford schools. I traveled back to Center in the afternoon. I attended my first Center Fitness Club as Joe Martinez put me to work!
Tuesday-I was on campus all day, to review lesson plans and conduct walk throughs. I attended our monthly DAC and BOE meetings in the evening.
Wednesday-we had an early morning BLT meeting at 6:45. I had a few meetings throughout the day.
Thursday- I traveled with Center’s admin team to Ellicott. We walked through many classrooms, and I learned multiple ideas and processes from this district. The trip reassured some of the great things we are already doing in our district.
Friday-I was able to conduct many walk throughs, and I had a couple meetings about PLC agenda, staff evaluations and our fitness club.
As I mentioned last week if you would like to wear jeans all week long you can pay five dollars and give that to Marsha and Deb. The money will be used towards purchasing things for the staff.
I will give credit to Linda Donaldson for this idea :).
The week ahead-
Monday – I will be taking a personal day. I have many teachers sending lesson plans to our teacher lesson plan reviewers.
Tuesday – We will be implementing the Pearson high school pilot testing for social studies. I will be doing instructional walks most of the day.
Wednesday – ICAP day and Mrs. Zimmerman and I will be putting together the PLC presentations. Our BLT has planned a solid PLC for our teachers.
Thursday – I hope to conduct regular principal business and also get into some classrooms.
Friday – is wide open as I hope to get into more classrooms and see some great instruction.
Have a fantastic week and thank you for reading.
