Quality planning, instruction, and assessments lead to high achievement for ALL students
After finishing up all of our teachers’ mid-year evaluations, it is evident that our teachers are doing some excellent work in our schools. The process of evaluating teachers is time consuming. All teachers were responsible for filling out a self evaluation. Then I was able to fill out the rubric based on the evidence that I have observed through walk throughs, lesson plans, instruction and everything that involves good teaching. The best part of the evaluation process was the conversation that each teacher and I had for self-improvement. Sometimes the teacher was able to provide an artifact or evidence that they were doing many things that I was not able to see. Sometimes we agreed that teachers were doing many things extremely well, and they were working on many descriptors on the evaluation. I was a part of 18 different conversations that were productive. The goal is to continue good instruction which in turn improves student success. Each teacher was given a teacher goal setting form to fill out. The process is to improve and analyze the teacher on an individual goal and a goal that will be related to individual student achievement. The final evaluation process will be very similar, as we will look at these goals to see if they were achieved or if they are a work in progress. I appreciate everyone working hard on this process and my hope is to get back into classrooms this week.

Huge thanks to all those folks that helped run the 2014 Valley Classic wrestling tournament. It takes many individuals and good people to pull this off. Individually I would like to thank Mike Phillips, Andy Hawkins, Diego Pons, Linda Donaldson, Nick Montgomery, Nicole Rockey, Clinton Phillips, Scott Poole, Stefan Welsh, Cheri Jones, Lee Flood, Carrie Zimmerman, Susan Banning, Panta Villagomez, Gerald Hammer, Mike Martinez, Walter Martinez, Chris Segura, Julio Paez, Ascencion Najera, Teddy Garcia, Sarah and Chris Vance, John Noriega, Charlie Kuhns, Brian Ullery and the entire wrestling team. All of these individuals continue to prove that we can host one of the best wrestling tournaments in the state. Our wrestlers won the team title to cap off a great Saturday.
This past week-
I was extremely busy with finishing up many of our evaluations. I was able to check lesson plans that were sent. La Junta schools brought some teachers and administrators over to observe some of our processes. I attended a couple of RTI and lunch meetings. And at the end of the week I was at two different trainings at Adams State. I was the administrator for basketball on Thursday in Sangre, wrestling on Friday and Saturday in Center.
The week ahead-
Monday- I have open to review lesson plans and getting into classrooms.
Tuesday- I have more walk throughs planned, and
I will be meeting with a gentleman that wants to volunteer in our schools.
Wednesday I have my monthly AD meeting-more classroom visits and I will be looking at data for improvement.
Thursday-I hope to be able to see all my teachers this week. I have 2 tentative meetings scheduled.
Friday- I will be at the All Valley PLC in Center. That evening we have a basketball game vs. Sierra Grande. We are having our first Hawaiian night and we have many fun activities planned (more information later).
Have a great week!
Always a Bronco fan!
