Victoria Valdez Lujan deserves some recognition this past week. She received the “Above and
Beyond”good conduct award from Mr. Flood. Victoria always makes an effort to be courteous to the other students at Center High/Middle School. Victoria can be found every lunch holding doors for all the
students. Thanks Victoria for your great character and manners.
Mr. Chavez looks mean? But really he is a nice guy! Unless you get into trouble:)
I would like to take this time to introduce our new behavior specialist Jose “Tito” Chavez. We spent the last week working together, getting to know each other, and getting acquainted with how the school runs. My first impression of “Tito” that he is extremely willing to learn and work hard for our students. He already has a great dedication to our district and our students. Welcome aboard “Tito”. We are lucky to have you.
This past week-
Monday I conducted mid-year teacher evaluations. This was a long but worthwhile process.
I do believe this will make our students better. I spent some time reviewing lesson plans for feedback. Mrs. Zimmerman and I prepared our agenda for Wednesday’s PLC.
Tuesday I completed mid-year teacher evaluations. Debbie from PEBC was on campus to mentor me on best practice strategies for school improvement. I spent an hour with Mr. Welsh going over my mid-year evaluation. I spent the majority of the evening working to prepare for the Valley Classic Wrestling Tournament.
Wednesday morning I attended before school ICAP meeting. We had a short assembly for middle/high school students to review and brush up on some general rules of conduct for each building. I was able to meet with PLC evaluators on feedback given to some of our teachers. The afternoon was devoted to PLC time as core teachers looked at TCAP assessment frameworks to help guide them in their future teaching.
Thursday, I spent the entire morning at ASU learning how to improve on teaching/coaching feedback from the Boettcher Mentor Program/PEBC. I was finally able to get into a few classrooms this afternoon and observe teacher instructional time.
Friday morning was spent data sharing with Mr. Poole’s class about individuals and their assessment (NWEA/TCAP) data from their entire high school career. The intent of this was to give the students some accountability and ownership of their education and testing. I did get a few walk throughs conducted before leaving to Montrose to attend the Paonia wrestling tournament.
Saturday, I attended the Paonia Wrestling Tournament all day long. Our team continues to improve their wrestling, that is evident by placing 3rd at the tournament.

The week ahead-
Monday throughout the day there will be some data sharing with the students. I will be looking over lesson plans and conducting some walk throughs. I need to prepare for the Valley Classic Wrestling Tournament (make requisitions for workers, referees).
Tuesday is a pretty wide open day. I have one IEP meeting scheduled.
Wednesday morning Alamosa and Center administrators will be conducting walk throughs at Center. In the afternoon this same group of administrators will be conducting walk throughs in Alamosa.
Thursday is open to conduct walk throughs and attend a meeting on lesson plan feedback during lunch.
Friday we will be attending the valley wide PLC in San Luis. Also, we are hosting 3 of the best 2A schools in the state for a wrestling tri-angular.
Saturday we will be hosting the Valley Classic Wrestling Tournament with 19 teams schedule to attend.
Have a great week!
