Good eveing-
First
I would like to thank everyone on staff for making the first week of Jump Start
a success. One of my fears for building
a new school was how it would affect everyone with all the new and drastic
changes. The staff at Center High School
has once again proved they can adjust to anything. When I went around and toured other schools
that were recently built, the staff and administration always commented on how to
be prepared for change. Many
administrators commented that you better be ready for complaining. I know that some things are not the same, but
this group of professionals has proved they can adapt to anything for our
students and we can work any kink out.
You all prove that EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day. All of the teachers and support staff made
the first week a success, without complaint.
That is not an easy task…so thank you!
The quote of the week comes after doing a “walk through” in Kindra Rounds’ class. When I walked into her class I saw Kindra using many strategies to review of antonyms, synonyms and homonyms. Mrs. Rounds was engaging students and reviewing for a test. I had a hard copy of Kindra’s lesson plan in my hand. When I talked to her afterwards, I asked if she thought the lesson plan helped her in Jump Start and our two hour blocks. She stated that “she could not teach without it”. I smiled and said that is the best
thing I have heard all week. Kindra proves that with Quality planning, instruction, and assessments lead to high achievement for ALL students. Kindra’s lesson was taught as planned and executed without a hitch.
Good job Mrs. Rounds!
Craig Zablocki....was awesome!
The week in review- Obviously trying to iron out the kinks of having a new school was top
priority. Mr. Hurtado, Mrs. Zimmerman and I conducted all the duties. We are working on a lunch schedule that will help us have classes that are consistent with our instructional time. Susan, Adele and I had many RTI meetings for some students and setting up kids for success. I attended both the
DAC and board meeting. I conducted some walk throughs, worked on details of our “doubling up”math class, and looked at a bunch of data to place students in classes. Friday I attended the Race to The
Top (Valley Collaborative). I thought the motivational speaker that was chosen was “spot on” on what we should be concentrating on when educating children. He had me laughing and thinking hard
about what is important. I had the privilege to help run an afternoon PLC in the afternoon.
The upcoming week ahead:
I will be conducting lesson plan reviews and walk throughs in the high school. I plan on helping Marsha working out the kinks of our new schedule. Also, we (Hurtado, Zimmerman and Jones) will do another week of duties to find out where everyone needs to be. I hope to meet with Mr. Vance and analyze some of our math data. Mr. Garica has planned a "foreign language" meeting for implimentation of our new program. We have a freshman orientation meeting on Tuesday. Friday, Mrs. Zimmerman and Mrs. Felmlee have worked on setting up a school registration day (high school parents please check your mail for a letter). Our first scrimmages for high school sports are scheduled for this weekend.
Have a great week!
