Center Middle/High School was awarded the Healthy School Champions for the 2014-15 school years. Our two schools are being recognized as 2014 Healthy School Champions for our efforts in creating healthy schools and implementing an effective Coordinated School Health model. Center 26 Jt School District will be awarded $5,000 to be shared between Center High School and Skoglund Middle School. I personally would like to thank Katrina Ruggles and Marsha Felmlee for all the work they put into this grant opportunity. This money can be used for a variety of things to support our staff and students at Center Schools. At Center High School we will be using this money to visit colleges, promote healthy choices, staff wellness and many other programs.
Last week I was able to report that many of our students won awards at the Regional Science Fair. Overall we had many students win a variety of awards. Below are the listed awards from the awards ceremony on Friday night. Congratulations to all our students at Center!

Great job Center High School students!
Congratulations to Center High School video production class for winning the "popular vote" for their CHSAA you can play video. I was at CHSAA headquarters the last two Sunday's and I heard nothing but compliments on the Center Video. The video was honored at half time of the 4A-5A championship games in Boulder. Since their teacher Mr. Welsh could not attend because he coaches baseball, Mark Jones and Scott Poole volunteered to take six of the 10 students to be honored at half time. Great teamwork by all involved.
This past week- was devoted to finishing all quarterly walk throughs and lesson plan reviews. I spent a lot of time with Mrs. Zimmerman making sure our TCAP schedule was correct. A huge thank you to Mrs. Weatherford and Mr. Koerber for helping us line out the testing schedule for all our students. I had a blast with some of the freshman students on their merit trip as we went bowling. Thank you to Matt Dubois for helping supervise. Tuesday-Wednesday and Thursday I met with all the high school students on their individual data. We discussed the importance of the week ahead with ACT prep and what we do with TCAP. It was great to be back with the students as I had fun sharing the data. Friday-the majority of the day was preparing rooms, schedules, accommodations, food and rules for TCAP testing.
The week ahead-
Monday-we start with a school pep rally for ACT/TCAP. Then we will start testing our first session. Juniors and seniors will be on the campus of Western State for a college visit. I would like to remind parents that we will be releasing students at 2:45 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All students that ride the bus will be going to the library until their bus leaves.
Tuesday-day 2 of testing. I will be supervising baseball this evening.
Wednesday-day 3 of testing.
Thursday-This day is allotted for all students to make up TCAP tests they missed. All 9th and 10th grade students will be back in their regular classes. The 11th and 12th grades will be finishing their ACT preparations and off campus visits.
Friday-NO SCHOOL unless students have to make-up their TCAP testing. Center High School will be hosting a 20 team track meet at the community park.
The following week is spring break as we do not have school.
Please encourage all students to get plenty of rest this week.
Have a great week!
