2013 Regional Science Fair (VIEW SLIDE SHOW)
With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels and be successful in life
There use to be a day when Regional Science Fair was dominated by Monte Vista and Sargent schools. It is great to see Center making a name for itself in this realm. Congratulations to the students and sponsors of science fair. This change is attributed to ALL of you and your hard work and dedication to the sciences. Center High School received the award of “Top Small School”. Thank you to Daniel Neymyer and Diego Martinez. I know how much time and effort you put into this program.
Thanks for your dedication to our students. Thank you to ALL the students who participated, I know you dedicated a great deal of effort and a ton of hours to your projects. You are all winners and achievers!! I also know that this success would not be possible without parent involvement and support. I am sure there were many parents that spent many long nights and money out of their pockets to help their student be successful. Most importantly you parents have supported your students in their
learning experience. Thank you for all you do for education. Here are the results for this year’s Regional Science Fair:

Brian Ullery was recognized this year for his accomplishments as a wrestling coach. He was given “Coach of the Year” for the SPL league. Congratulations Brian! You continue to dedicate yourself to Center Wrestling Program. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. Many of Center High School wrestlers were also honored with All Conference Honors. Kep up the hard work and good things will come your way. The following wrestlers received 1st Team All Conferences honors: Jose Angel Chavez, Jeremy Moreno, Gustavo Nungary, Jeremiah Moreno, Jose Luis Macias, and Luis Mariscal. DeAngelo Martinez was named to the 2ndTeam All Conference.
Center School District and the Lobato family are in the news again. It puts a smile on my face to see Center students and former students representing such a great cause for education. The case has gone on to the Supreme Court and many of our students were at the last phase of the trial. Mr. Poole offered to take a few students to represent Center Schools and experience some government first hand. Tamara Flores, Joseph Gutierrez, Luis Garcia, and Ofelia Gonzales got to experience real life government first hand. Thanks Mr. Poole for exposing our students to Colorado public radio and Univision Colorado TV. What a great experience for these students. I am sure they will never forget this exposure to government.
This past week:
Monday I attended the early morning TCAP training with Lori Cooper. Lori Carrie and I met to discuss TCAP/ELL accommodations . I lookedat plans and sent peer viewers for feedback and I was able to conduct walk throughs. Adele, Katrina and I met on a plan to take students to Mesa State College. Tuesday I conducted many walk throughs, e-mail, and a behavior check meeting. Wednesday I attended our monthly AD meeting in Alamosa. I conducted walk throughs in the afternoon. Thursday I met won a couple of discipline issues and conducted walk throughs. That evening I attended an all 8th grade meeting at 6:30 in the cafeteria to discuss high school schedules. Friday I tried to finish my walk throughs for the quarter and I conducted regular business. I was able to attend a small part of this year’s Regional Science fair.
The week ahead-
Monday I will be attending the seeding meeting for 2A state basketball tournaments. One regional set of games was postponed on Saturday, because of weather. This made our seeding meeting move from Sunday morning to Monday afternoon in Denver.
Tuesday I will be back to normal business, and I am going to do my best to be in classes. Carrie and I
will be looking at a plan for TCAP classroom sites. In the afternoon we will have Tina Goar from CDE on campus to present our Center School of Excellence award at 2:00. That evening we have our monthly DAC and BOE meeting.
Wednesday we have an early morning BLT meeting at 7:00. I plan on being in classes and handling my weekly e-mails.
Thursday and Friday are wide open to see great instruction in each of our classes.
Finally, I want to offer condolences to the Villagomez family for their tragic lost over the weekend. As Principal of Center
High School I speak for everyone that we will do our best to keep Alea and Nehimiah in our thoughts and prayers.
