With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels and be successful in life
One of the most important jobs a parent can have in helping their students to succeed in school is to ensure that they are in attendance at school as much as possible. It is difficult for students to receive educational instruction if they aren’t there to receive it. We are in “crunch time” now in the school year, TCAP and ACT testing are right around the corner. It is imperative that students are in school to receive instruction before these vital tests are administered. The upcoming dates for these assessments are March 17 – 21st. Please mark these dates on your calendar and try to avoid any conflicts with these dates if at all possible. Looking forward to the great teaching that will be happening between now and the middle of March. After school tutoring will be available Monday thru Thursday for extra help in all core subjects.

I would like to acknowledge two young ladies for their extra efforts in band class this past week. Mrs. Newmyer recognized Minga Francisco and Gabriela Bucio for their outstanding behavior in class. These young ladies are always willing to go the extra effort in class. They are great leaders and role models for the other students in class. Keep up the great work ladies. Thank you!!
My heart and my eyes filled with joy this past Saturday evening at the Pepsi Center in Denver. I could not have been happier for our Center Viking Wrestler, Luis Mariscal 220 lb 2A State Champion. What a great accomplishment this young man endured this past weekend. I know this reward for him was not easily attained. Many of us have witnessed his many hours of hard work and dedication that Luis has put in throughout his high school career. This hard work ethic doesn’t just happen on the mat. He dedicates himself to whatever sport he is involved in. He has many accomplishments in his athletic career at CHS. I am more impressed with his hard work and dedication in the classroom and life. He is a great athlete, student and person! Luis you are a great example of what hard work, dedication, passion and perseverance can do for anyone. Congratulations on your success!! Please join us in celebrating this great accomplishment with Luis during half time of the boys’ varsity basketball game Tuesday evening.

This past week--
This was a short school week for me. I conducted multiple classroom walkthroughs with Lori Cooper. I reviewed lesson plans. I conducted a mock interview with Nick Lobato to help him prepare for the Daniel’s fund Scholarship. I attend the Lynn Reimer presentation on drug awareness. I attended the ICAP work group. I attended an early morning BLT meeting and a health advisor meeting. I was able to meet with Kurt Cary from Adams State. I pushed payroll through before leaving for the State Wrestling Tournament in Denver. I returned home in time on Sunday to attend a seeding meeting for SPL basketball.
The week ahead-
Monday- I will be reviewing lesson plans and catching up on e-mail correspondence from being gone last week. I am also hoping to get into some classrooms. I will also be attending basketball games this evening as our Lady Vikings will host Cripple Creek at 5:00.
Tuesday- My schedule is pretty open for conducting walk throughs. Mrs. Zimmerman and I will be meeting to produce the TCAP/ACT schedule. We will host a boys basketball game (opponent to be determined on Monday)
Wednesday- ICAP day I will be conducting an interview with Jessica Shawcroft from a student counselor intern. The afternoon will be PLC time.
Thursday- I plan to be back in class and I have a DLT meeting in the afternoon. There will be a meeting with math teachers to help prepare for the CMAS testing. Second round of SPL tournament at Alamosa High School.
Friday- I have a scheduled RTI meeting in the afternoon. I will be conducting regular school business (e-mails, walk throughs, etc).
Saturday/Sunday- I will be traveling to Denver to attend a regional basketball meeting at CHSAA.
Have a great week!
