This past Wednesday evening Kate Newmyer hosted her 5th-12 grade spring concert in the auditorium. Mrs. Newmyer did an outstanding job of setting students up to succeed. We heard a variety of individual performances as students were showing off their talents. Then we had a variety of performances that included student’s talents in the music realm. Kate has transitioned her concerts to express each student’s individual talents. It was impressive to see how our students had the ability to perform in front of a large audience as they exhibit their unique talents. On a sad note, this will be Mrs. Newmyer’s last concert in Center’s Schools. Although we may cross paths on a later date, I would like to thank Kate for her outstanding dedication to making the Center Music program the best it could be! Kate has done tremendous things for our musical students in Center and we are going to miss her! Great job to Kate and all her students for a wonderful performance! Kate is following our core belief that with our help all students can achieve at high levels and be successful in life!

I would like to thank CHS high school government teacher Scott Pool for bringing in George Eidinger to teach our students about the Holocaust. George was on campus on Tuesday to speak with many of our students at Center High School. George taught at Las Animas for 31 years as a Social Studies teacher. The unique thing is he was born in The Netherlands and lived there until he was 8 years old. He immigrated to the U.S. and his father was a Rescuer in World War II. He saved over 2000 Jews who would have been killed by the Nazis. George during his presentation spoke about his father and about other stories of Rescuers from WWII and he also spoke about how Hitler came to power in the 1930's and about the Final Solution, which was the Nazi plan to exterminate Jews from Europe. Thanks Scott for bringing in an outside resource that educated our students on a topic that shall forever be remembered.
