- With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels
- We are preparing our students to be successful in life.
The buzz around Center High School this week was regional science fair. Many of our students at Center High School have been preparing for this event for over a year. Our students have taken on various projects to enhance their ability to research. I would like to applaud how hard some of these students worked! With Daniel Newmyer leading the charge he was able to capture students to be able to do things in science they never thought they could do. I can personally verify that Daniel guides the students on their project. But, not once did I see him doing the project for the students. Sometimes Mr. Newmyer comes down to me and starts bragging on how his students are working real hard on their projects and it was October. I applaud all our students and the various awards they won on Friday night. Center High School won the small school award for the 3rd consecutive year! When the award was announced all 45 high school students walked across the stage and accepted the award. I personally had many parents from other districts tell me how well Center was represented. It was a great night to wear blue! We had 4 students qualify for state. Genesis Villa, Jasmine Garcia, Nick Lobato and Anna Kulp will be going to Fort Collins in April. Along with all the parents and adults that supported our students on their projects, Mr. Newmyer has other staff members that played a gigantic role in their success. Mr. Diego Martinez has been working alongside Daniel for many years. It is evident that they make a great team! I know that Mark Jones was instrumental in helping many of these students achieve success. And finally, I would like to thank Lisa Renner, Gail Martinez and Soyla Guadiana for all their help. All of those staff members represented our core value: Everyone must be committed to the pursuit of excellence. I would like to thank all of our classroom teachers for being very flexible and allowing our students to finish up their projects. On a final note, you can tell that Mr. Newmyer and many of his students have very high expectations. After the awards banquet, you could feel the disappointment that our kids did not win the two biggest awards of the night. The competition was very tough. It was evident from our sponsors that they believed 2-4 of our students had a shot at winning. These teachers prepared our students to be committed to excellence. It amazes me that after 3 years, Mr. Newmyer has built a program that is envied throughout the valley and state. Congratulations to all our students for their success, and if they did not win something I know that they have learned something from this experience. Thanks Daniel for supporting our students to achieve at high levels and preparing our students to be successful in life.
