I don’t know how many of you attended football games last season, but it was pretty embarrassing to be a Center Viking when we were playing one of our league games and the lights went out. Coach Flood used this situation to his advantage and changed his game plan to include many fades to the west side of the field. We weren’t faced with this predicament this year thanks to the electrical services from the Town of Center. Duane Valdez, Chris Nelson, and Manuel Tafoya took this task on with last notice and provided lights for the ENTIRE football field this season. Thank you guys for your time and efforts, it is greatly appreciated. Even though these gentlemen are not part of our staff at Center Schools, EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day. A special thanks needs to go out to Forrest Neuerburg and George Welsh for keeping Center Viking Football under the “Friday Night Lights.”
Daniel Newmyer has taken on a new challenge at Center High School. He has devoted many hours and lots of hard work to implement a new AP Physics course to further challenge our students. Many parents and students themselves have commented on how rigorous and rewarding this class has been. Thank you Daniel for putting forth the extra effort to help our students. With our support ALL children can achieve at high levels and be successful in life.
This past week:
Monday-
I reviewed and gave feedback on lesson plans. I conducted many walk throughs. Mrs. Zimmerman and I worked on handbooks. The evening was spent dealing with athletic paper work.
Tuesday-
I attended College Fair with the Juniors and Seniors at ASU in the morning. The afternoon was spent with Adele and a Fort Lewis representative planning an overnight college visit trip. In the evening I covered
middle school volleyball at OMS and attended a Boettcher Scholarship meeting at ASU.
Wednesday- I had some early morning meetings regarding student’s schedules. The remainder of the morning was spent in Administration Team meetings with 2 Las Animas principals. They attended walk throughs with us during the afternoon.

Three representatives from ASU and PEBC met with Center administration and discussed with us the Boettcher Scholarship program. The evening was spent attending both the middle school football game and C team volleyball games.
